Wow, what a wonderful day....sunshine deep into the winter months and temperatures of 60 degrees. I left work thinking I was going to get out my saddle and do some round pen work on whichever victim I could catch from the pasture. But, by the time I had driven the short distance home, I had changed my mind. I decided to just relax and explore awhile in the new addition. Cricket and Gabby immediately ran through the concrete (which was still very wet) for the porch footing....only my blog followers will ever know there's several sets of tiny puppy dog footprints in the concrete underneath the hundred of bricks soon to be placed. I took a few photos and looked out all the windows (like a kid with a new toy I am).
All in all, the building project is going well. The next few days of 'winter weather' may slow things down but I'm taking this whole thing as a lesson in patience these days. I've waited so long that a few more weeks won't really disturb me. My goal of having this project finished before Christmas has long past. Maybe I should plan for Christmas 2009!
Here's the bottom part of the stairs which will lead up to the master suite. I am still undecided about how to dress them up but I am sure between Fred and my brother Ken, I'll have plenty of good ideas. (I did take time to put out some sunflower seeds for the birdies. I am going to have so many enjoyable moments sitting in the sunroom or on the porch and watching the birds come to the feeders.) I measured walls to try and decide where to build the fireplace mantel but it's a while yet before I have to pin that down. And, my boss, Dusty Johnston, gave me a couple of super-cool REALLY RETRO light fixtures from his recent remodel project. I am planning to install one in the sunroom and the other will either be in the master bedroom or by the main entry way...Stay Tuned!!! Unless you're just entirely too bored!!!!
