Danger In The Day!
Isn't the weather wonderful in North Central Arkansas? Bright and early, Fred and I decided to spend the morning horse-training (in our case mule-training mostly). We walked up toward the high field and called up the HERD and they all followed us back to the barn. Misty of course was last since her old feet still bother her sometimes. Everybody wanted an apple, compliments of Joanna Fulbright who gave us a nice box of fruit yesterday. We discussed options and decided to keep up Pebbles and the two new mules to just handle them for a bit. While applying Poridon to Pebbles, she got antsy and stepped on my right foot. It totally caved in my boot and smashed my big toe (OUCH). I took off my boot and checked. No major damage and Fred was working with Katie so I went up to the barn pen to play with the baby mule. She was feeling spunky as well and before I knew it she had wheeled on her heels and kicked me. Yes, IT IS OFFICIAL....I have now been kicked by a mule. I didn't realize I had a KICK-ME sign attached to my back this morning! She didn't connect too hard but left a footprint on my Levis. Naturally, this behavior is a danger so I couldn't let her win. I went ahead and worked her around for a bit and decided since I could walk, I probably wasn't hurt. She was super calm the rest of the morning and didn't act up again. She knew she was in the wrong so I am not too put out about it. Plus I think I'll live but there was some danger out this morning!
