The weather is stormy tonight. Fred and I sat on the porch for a while watching the rain and the lightening. The dogs were playing with the bugs and each other and the air smelled like rain and sweet four o'clocks. Even a stormy time has some calmness....I will try to remember that when life gets stormy....there's calm somewhere if I just stop and look for it.
My new venture for the long weekend is to make fig preserves. I had the pleasure of visiting Ms. Sidney's this afternoon and she taught me how to select the sweetest figs from the trees, gave me her special recipe and some extra advice on how to process the fruit. I'll let you know how that turns out.
Heard just a while ago that one of our church members was injured at the chuckwagon races in Clinton. Broken collar bone, collapsed lung and more. Prayers for his speedy recovery! Think that will keep me from riding at the next opportunity? Not....I can't imagine doing anything more relaxing than riding my faithful John in the great outdoors. It's my calm in the storm of life.
