This weekend we worked outside! I did have to take a short break from digging, weeding, filling, planting, etc. to do some picture-taking....here's Fred standing next to the scary scarecrow without a face. Fred put this up last year to guard over the blackberries, grapes and garden. Don't tell him, but nobody (including our wildlife friends) is afraid of this thing anymore.
Calyco Glam R (aka Caly) spent a lot of her time helping dig around the yard. It's her expertise.Check out this awesome G-90 sweet corn. It's the best ever and the crop looks to be good this year, even though we planted the seeds a little later than we prefer. July 4 should be 'children of the corn' weekend at our place.
Ah, peaches. A sure sign of summer on the way.....this tree is one that my brother Ken gave me nine years ago when we bought our farm. He and I planted several peach trees and this one is the only one that has survived the droughts, ice storms, tornadoes and various other things. It's near the garden so possibly gets a bit more attention there.
Fred has finished putting up timbers and wire for all the grape and muscadine vines as well as the blackberries that climb. We are starting to look like real gardeners around here. Stay tuned!
