My sweet daughter in law Amber asked me for copies of some of my favorite family photos. This led me to dig through a dresser drawer stuffed full of pictures from all sorts of occasions. I found some really great photos from our trips to Alaska, Boston, Colorado, Florida and lots of other stuff like pheasant hunting, Christmases past, family birthdays and reunions....and I saved out a few to practice my scanning skills. The ones I scan will show up on the blog with a little narrative. I know the suspense is killing everybody so here's the first one:
This Scooby Doo picture was taken at Orlando during summer 2002. Fred and I drove down to take Malcolm and Shawn (my nephews) to Disney. We also visited Universal Studios which was way cool and probably their favorite theme park of the trip. One of the neatest attractions was a haunted Scooby Doo ride. The boys and I had the best time going through that. We looked around in the gift shop for a while and calmed our fears before we moved on (Actually we were just enjoying the air-conditioning...it's hot in Orlando in July!)
Orlando was great for the three days we were there and we stopped over for one night to play on the beach in Pensacola. Malcolm had been studying about the ocean in science so we had to experience that too. By taking this summer vacation with the boys, I fulfilled the promise I had made to them when they were little tiny cartoon watchers, wanting to see Mickey Mouse and Goofy. We did it and it was a total blast - one of the happiest weeks of my entire life! Always keep your promise, even if it's a difficult thing to accomplish; the effort is well worth it.
